SCIboston’s Saturday Education Series:
Transcutaneous Spinal Stimulation: What’s All the Buzz About?
Saturday, January 31st, 2026
11:00am-12:00pm EST
Join Angie Hibberd, OT, OTD, Katie Schramm, PT, DPT, and Julia Wall, PT, PhD, from the INSPIRE Lab at Spaulding Cambridge for an overview of transcutaneous spinal stimulation for individuals with SCI. This session will review current clinical applications, including the FDA-approved ARC EX device, which research shows can improve hand strength in individuals with incomplete tetraplegia 1–30 years post-injury when combined with therapy.
We’ll also highlight ongoing research using ARC EX and other devices (ExaStim, SCONE) to improve gait, transfers, trunk control, bladder function, and home use. Resources for clinical access and research participation will be shared, followed by a Q&A.
