About Us: We are SCIboston. We are comprised of individuals affected by spinal cord injury or disorders
(SCI/D) including family members, loved ones, healthcare associates and many more. From the moment of
injury, we offer hope through one-on-one support, understanding, and guidance. No other entity provides this
depth of support. We work to Reach, Inspire, Support, and Empower all those affected by an SCI/D
through our nationally recognized Peer Visitation Program. Staff members and trained volunteers, who have
successfully navigated post SCI/D life, serve as mentors to help the newly injured, and their families’ to better
understand what happened, transition back into the community and meet their goals of leading a fulfilling life.
We are looking for a creative and dedicated Social Media Coordinator to join our team and help amplify our
message across various social media platforms.

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT 

We are seeking a Part-Time Social Media Coordinator to manage and enhance our social media presence
and ultimately to reach more individuals with spinal cord injury. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in
current social media trends, have a deep understanding of the spinal cord injury community, and possess the
ability to create engaging content that resonates with our audience. The candidate will reside in or proximal to Massachusetts to allow attendance to SCIboston sponsored social events.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Social Media Coordinator will: 

Develop, implement, and manage our social media strategy.

Create, curate, and schedule engaging content across all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).

Monitor social media channels for trends, feedback, and engagement opportunities.

Respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and respectful manner.

Collaborate with other team members to ensure brand consistency and promote upcoming events, initiatives, and campaigns.

Analyze social media metrics and generate reports to track performance and identify areas for improvement.

Stay up to date with the latest social media best practices and technologies.

Engage with the spinal cord injured community online to build relationships and foster a sense of community.

Assist in developing social media campaigns to promote awareness, advocacy, and fundraising efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: 

Experience working with non-profit organizations or advocacy groups.

Knowledge of accessibility features and best practices for creating inclusive content.

Familiarity with SEO and content marketing strategies

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Proven experience as a Social Media Coordinator or similar role.

Strong understanding of the disability community and a passion for advocacy.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer).

Creativity and ability to think outside the box.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Google Workspace (Google docs, slides, spreadsheets, and forms), and willingness to learn Salsa/Bonterra (Donor Database), website basics (Squarespace), and Canva.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION:

This is a part-time position, requiring approximately 10 hours per week.

Flexible working hours, with the ability to work remotely.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Work can be done remotely, some in-person work required at SRH. 

Provides own transportation to and from any work-related meetings and events, with mileage reimbursement. 

Maintain a professional appearance. 

Respond to emails and phone calls within 2 business days. 

Must adhere to and respect confidentiality. 

Thorough understanding and compliance with HIPPA (Healthcare Information Patient Protection Act).
